The High Mobad had the right of it, with setting out the stall for one's outcomes. All very positive, affirmative, and future-oriented. On the matter of guidance...I'd pray for angels placing 'good' thoughts in the minds of our leaders. Right thought and right heart, leads to right word and deed.

Very nice! But Switzerland inC19 had many of these features and seems to have been a pretty pleasant place. Perhaps one needs an import of Swiss savoir faire with regard to governance of mountainous regions with porous boundaries. Recent attendance at Swiss francophone evening of nice food and films in Larnaca reinforces impression of the benign influence of this deeply civilised country. Yodelling noises.

I'm persuaded. The Pyrenees, the Balkans, small ambitious Corsicans, Austrians with toothbrush moustaches - all rumbustious fighty types from up-and-down sorts of landscapes. And what have the Dutch ever done to anyone? Although come to think of it, they were a bit expeditionary in their time.....

Hey, are you calling the highland Scots bellicose. No we're not and I'll stick the heid in anyone who dares to say we are.

PS. It appears that the Men of Kent resisted William the Conqueror more stoutly than the Kentish Men, who weakly surrendered!

Your wise old cove is right that terrain shapes a people and having to struggle for bare existence makes many mountain people tougher than most. But it can't be the whole story cos the country folk of the Kentish hopfields have been pretty bellicose, too, when it was demanded of them...

A disorganized god threw left-over earth into the Mediterranean and thus created the Greek islands. Is it the intent of the creating being (fury, lackadaisical-ity) which leads to bellicose rather than peaceful results?..... or is it the place where you land?.... puzzled cat.....prrrrrrrrrrrrrr
